TIN Verifier Mobile Application: Taxpayer’s Identification Number (TIN) Inquiry and Validation at Your Fingertips
Friday, March 5, 2021
All of us are adapting to the new
normal. The extended lockdown in the country allowed private and public
businesses to innovate to serve their customers continuously.
Recently, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) launched its online TIN verification channel.
The BIR TIN Verifier Mobile Application allows taxpayers to validate their TIN online or inquire about their TIN application status using their mobile phones. A BIR agent will act on their request and will answer accordingly based on available BIR records.
How to use the BIR mobile application
- Download
the app from the Google Play Store or the App Store;
- Read the bureau’s Privacy Notice and tick the “I have read and understood the Privacy Policy” and “Proceed” buttons;
- The app will direct you to the Home Page. Tap the “TIN Verifier” button and select your desired transaction- TIN inquiry or TIN validation;
- Fill-up the required information;
- You will
receive a confirmation message that your TIN is verified;
- You may
screenshot the message for your reference.
Additional Information
- Currently,
the app is available during weekdays, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to
5:00 PM;
- The TIN
verification process is not yet fully automated. The BIR agents still
manually check the TIN records of the taxpayer before they can answer your
transaction. So, response time may
be slow;
- Walk-in
TIN transactions are still accepted in the Revenue District Offices (RDOs)
to serve taxpayers with no access to online service.
The BIR mobile application is still
in its initial stage. It needs fine-tuning to make it more useful and
convenient for taxpayers. The new system is a step ahead than queuing in the
RDOs.
The pandemic has made us health-conscious. Keeping healthy is not only about social distancing and frequent handwashing. But it is also about keeping the household clean, especially the ones we stay longer when we are at home.
Don’t you know that we
spend an average of six hours of sleep, and that means spending the same hours
lying on our bed? While dreaming the birds and the bees or merely lounging,
dust, dead skin, sweat, and other debris may cling on the bed mattress, which
could cause allergies and skin problems.
When we have health
issues, our immune system is low, making us prone to contact infections such as
the deadly COVID-19 virus. That’s why keeping our bed mattress clean and fresh
is part of our household routine in the new normal.
Here are five simple yet
effective way of keeping your night buddy fresh, stain- and odor-free:
1.
Remove the dust.
The best and effective way of getting rid of mattress dust is through a vacuum cleaner. Remove all bedding and covers off the mattress. Then, grab the vacuum cleaner’s upholstery accessory and aim the nozzle to the fabric’s entire surface, including the sides. Check out for hidden dust or dirt stuck on the seams or quilting, and remove the grime using the crevice tool.
You
may vacuum-clean your bed regularly to get rid of loose materials that could
cause stains to your beddings when accumulated in the fabric for a long time.
- Wipe
out the stain immediately
If you are fond of snacking in bed, chances are your bed mattress may have some food remnants or stains on it. You may want to clean up the mess as soon as it happens. Change the sheets immediately and toss the soiled sheets inside the washing machine.
For
the stained bedding, soaked a piece of cloth in water with mild detergent and
gently rub the stain. Remove the residue by using a clean damp cloth. Avoid
using cleaning agents with a harsh chemical component as it may damage the
mattress’ fabric.
- Air
out your bed mattress
Let your bed mattress breathe. Sunbathing your mattress for half a day is an excellent way to get rid of moisture, stale odors, and bacteria. Place the mattress in a dry and clean open area where there is direct sunlight.
If you don’t have access to an ideal outdoor spot, open the windows and let your bed mattress sunbathe inside the house. Just ensure that sunlight can touch the entire fabric evenly.
- Take a bath before going to bed.
Believe it or not, the single contributor
of dirt in your mattress is you. You shed off dead skin, sweat a lot, and bring
in foreign matters from outside. Thus, give yourself a nice bath or cleaning
before hitting the sheets. Wearing your freshly-ironed pajamas or loungewear
will also help.
Your
bed and mattress will stay smelling-fresh longer and will guarantee a pleasant
journey towards slumberland.
- Get a new bed mattress.
If you tried every solution to remove
stubborn stains or odor and all did not help, it is time to have a bedroom
makeover by getting a new bed mattress and a few home accessories that will
spruce up your bedroom. You deserve a night of better and comfortable sleep.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) lauds the Provincial Government of Bohol's efforts in setting up this year's annual Ubi Festival under the new normal.
Running until February 24, the festival, which has been celebrated since year 2000, is proof of the Boholanos’ love for Ubi or purple yam. The root crop was revered as a “savior crop” as its discovery led to the alleviation of hunger in the province during pre-Hispanic times. Now, it has become a staple food for Boholanos because of its taste, long shelf-life, and the many food varieties that can be made from it.
As the largest producer of ubi in the country, Bohol is home to many ubi farmers who turn to the root crop for their livelihood. With this year's theme, “Pagpananum ug Ubi Napuslan, Kagutom Na Dala Sa Covid19 Nabatukan,” the festival aims to celebrate the root crop that has become an agro-historical-geographical-religious symbol for the province and highlight the impact and contributions of ubi farmers.
As part of the festival, a
showcase of a variety of Ubi products like ube jams and ube-based bibingka, ice
cream, and bread can be found at the Old City Airport in Tagbilaran City. The
venue strictly implements health and safety protocols to assure festival-goers
of an easy and memorable experience. Other cultural activities, exhibits, and
seminars are also held to honor the root crop this month.
From festivals, gorgeous sights, and fun-filled activities, there’s definitely a Bohol destination for everyone. While it is famous for the Chocolate Hills, Bohol also offers other attractions that families, groups, and even solo travelers can enjoy.
Scenic views and ecotourism sites
When one speaks of Bohol, the Chocolate Hills cannot be left out. These 1,776 individual hills spread across six towns have attracted tourists from many generations for their uniqueness and vastness.
The Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary, a place dedicated to saving the
lives of endangered tarsiers, is also open for those who want to learn more
about these small nocturnal primates.
Bohol also has something for
adrenaline junkies. If you prefer seeing the Chocolate Hills up close, ATV
rentals are available in the Carmen area. Those who want more action-packed
activities can head to the Loboc Ecotourism Adventure Park for zipline and
cable car rides. If you prefer water activities, you can also opt for stand-up
paddle boarding tours or experience a water bike adventure.
Bohol is also known for its
white-sand beaches and clear waters. The Alona beach is a stunning 1.5km
stretch of white-sand beach famous for being a must-visit spot for those who
love snorkeling, scuba diving, or even those who just like to relax and watch
the sunset. Travelers can also island-hop to Balicasag and Virgin islands to
explore Bohol’s marine life. If you’re lucky, you might even get a glimpse of
dolphins in the area.
Variety of accommodations
Tourism comprises 70% of the
livelihood in Bohol, so there is no wonder that several hotels and resorts are
available in the area. Whether you choose accommodations in the municipality of
Panglao or Dauis, these hotels are committed to providing top-notch service and
hospitality, especially during these times. Temperature checks, QR code
scanning, plated meals, and rearranged eating areas are just some of the
adjustments made by accommodations to ensure that travelers are assured of a
safe environment during their stay.
Hassle-free travel
Do-it-yourself travels are
currently not allowed in Bohol. This means that everything you plan to do while
on the island should be pre-booked--from accommodations and transportation to
tour arrangements. This makes sightseeing around the island hassle-free. This
also makes it easier for the provincial government to implement systems to curb
the virus’s spread while ensuring that tourists get to fully enjoy the island’s
beauty.
Before planning a visit to Bohol, travelers must have a negative RT-PCR test taken 72 hours before their arrival, pre-booked accommodations at a DOT/LGU-accredited establishment, travel itinerary, and registration in the Province of Bohol website at tourism.bohol.gov.ph for the issuance of personal QR codes that will serve as electronic IDs.
Tourists coming from Metro Manila are encouraged to apply for the subsidized RT-PCR test at the UP-Philippine General or Philippine Children's Medical Center for as low as PHP900 and PHP750, respectively. To avail of the 50% discount from either of the two medical institutions, visit the Tourism Promotions Board website at www.tpb.gov.ph/rtpcrphtravel.
As of February 2, 2021, Bohol allows the use of saliva RT-PCR tests in place of nasal and throat swabs.
For up-to-date information on open destinations and the safety protocols and requirements needed for each location, you may visit www.philippines.travel/safetrip or download the Travel Philippines app at app.philippines.travel or the Google Playstore.

Shopee's #TatakPinoy Virtual Trade Fair Launches to Support Filipino Businesses
Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in
Southeast Asia and Taiwan, launches #TatakPinoy, a virtual trade fair geared
towards supporting homegrown Filipino brands and micro, small, and medium
enterprises (MSMEs).
Shopee consistently advocates for the growth of local businesses. Amid the COVID-19 lockdown, which forced hundreds of Filipino businesses to close physical shops, Shopee supported over 1,000 sellers transitioning online through Shopee’s Seller Masterclasses and its partnerships with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and local government units.
The initiatives helped Filipino entrepreneurs gain a basic understanding of e-commerce and digital marketing. Sellers were also able to master Shopee’s marketing tools, helping them achieve their maximum potential in e-commerce.
To further strengthen support for local entrepreneurs, Shopee and DTI are set to launch the very first #TatakPinoy Virtual Trade Fair, a campaign that aims to promote products from Filipino brands and local MSMEs.
From February 19 - 21, shoppers can discover local delicacies and pasalubong items, particularly those from Regions XII and IV-A, on Shopee. They can also buy products from Filipina-owned businesses, championed by Shopee and USAID’s partnership to empower local female entrepreneurs.
In its statement, DTI’s Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion announced, "The Department of Trade and Industry - Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion is proud to be a partner for #TatakPinoy on Shopee. This initiative will connect thousands of consumers to more than a hundred MSMEs on one platform".
"We invite Filipinos from all over the country to patronize and take pride in products that are certified #TatakPinoy from the National Trade Fair Pop-up Store and Go Lokal! Shopee Mall", the statement added.
Martin Yu, Director at Shopee Philippines, said, “We strongly believe in the importance of uplifting homegrown entrepreneurs. From microbusinesses to SMEs, these local brands all contribute to the Philippine economy’s growth as a whole".
"Considering that most local businesses still can’t promote their products outside of online platforms due to the pandemic, Shopee also wants to create the opportunity to showcase the best Filipino brands. We will continue to spearhead campaigns that help reignite pride and demand for local products and drive the growth of the economy.”
Aside from discovering high-quality local craftsmanship and assisting local businesses in the process, shoppers can enjoy exclusive discounts up to 10% off on participating Filipino brands such as Colourette, Vice Cosmetics, and Human Nature.
Shoppers can also enjoy more deals when they checkout using ShopeePay. For more information about the #TatakPinoy Virtual Trade Fair, visit https://shopee.ph/m/tatak-pinoy.
